Welcome to Foundation for Amity and National Solidarity
The logo of the Foundation for Amity and National Solidarity is symbolic of some of the sublime unifying thoughts of oneness for which it works and these thoughts are not mere floating ideals. They were born as a human response to November 1984 riots in New Delhi in the wake of the tragic assassination of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister.
The prime mover for the new thought process and action plan was Mr. Virendar Mohan Trehan (President, FANS), a sensitive entrepreneur committed to national goals of secularism, solidarity and communal harmony. In consultation with his close friend, Mr. Avtar Singh Dhingra, they got into action.
The interaction between Mr. Trehan and Mr. Dhingra and some other friends helped crystallize a few ideas. In December, 1984, Foundation for Amity and National solidarity was born. To complete the team, Nawabzada Aimaduddin Ahmed Khan (Durrumian) and Mr. P L Joseph joined hands soon as members of the Governing Council.
From a humble beginning, the Foundation has become a movement of amity, solidarity, communal harmony and national integration that has virtually taken hundreds of thousands of Indians in its fold. The successful serial, ‘Yeh Gulistan Hamara’ produced by the Foundation and telecast by Doordarshan, carried the message of communal harmony to millions of homes.
The Foundation works at the grassroots. It carries the message of national integration at youth camps, seminars and workshops, inter religious meets, cultural events, peace marches and by organizing sadbhavana sabhas throughout the country.
The Foundation believes in the greatness of India. The Promotion of national integration by strengthening socio-cultural bonds has been its firm commitment. The Foundation has been inspired by high ideals of great Indian leaders. "Thou brave one, be bold, take courage, be proud that you are an Indian - and proudly proclaim. "I am an Indian - every Indian is my brother." These soul-stirring words from Swami Vivekanand continue to inspire the FANS members led by Mr. Virendar Mohan Trehan (President, FANS), whose unflinching faith in India's destiny has made the Foundation a new symbol of hope in modern India.
