Mr. Virendar Mohan Trehan has been the moving spirit behind the varied activities of the Foundation. In recognition of his relentless efforts for the promotion of the Foundation's aims and objectives, the people have showered their love on him as a sign of their gratitude. Awards and honors bestowed upon him are symbolic of recognition of the good work done by the Foundation for building a better society.
- National Communal Harmony Award 2012 presented by National Foundation for Communal Harmony under the Ministry of Home Affairs, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on 20th September, 2013. for promotion of communal harmony and national integration. The Award was given by the President of India.
- The prestigious Award of Presidential Gold Medal was presented to Mr. V. M. Trehan by the Indian Science Congress Association on January 3, 2008 at Visakhapatnam for propagating the message of Amity, Peace and Harmony for the entire fraternity and for being a Social Scientist par excellence. The Award also recognized his contribution in the field of Communications.
- Harmony Man of the Year 1996 by the Inter Religious Harmony Movement, Bangalore.
- Indian Management Science Association Award by Governor of Punjab on October 11, 1996 for Management Excellence.
- Honoured by Khwaja Gharib-un-Nawaz Welfare Centre in a function organized for Inter-Faith Message for Communal Harmony on November 02, 1996.
- Honour conferred by Bharat Vikas Parishad, Pandharpur Branch at a function organized on August 15, 1996.
- For outstanding services rendered in the field of Education, National Integration, spread of Social and Communal Harmony. A Plaque and Shawl presented to Shri Trehan by Shri Dadasaheb Rupwate on August 8, 1996 at Ahmednagar.
- For outstanding contribution towards National Integration, Communal Harmony and spread of secular ideals, Janmabhoomi’s C.U. Shah National Integration Award by Saurashtra Trust, Mumbai. Presented by Shri Sharad Chandra Pawar, the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra on June 27, 1994.
- In recognition of his contribution towards growth of telecommunications in the Country, he was awarded Telecommunication Man of the Year in 1993 by the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers.
- For contribution towards National Integration by Ghalib Academy. Presented by Late Giani Zail Singh, former President of India on March 27, 1993.
- Indira Gandhi National Unity Award by All India National Unity Congress. Presented by Giani Zail Singh, the then President of India at Mumbai on October 24, 1990.
- Best Award for Production of T.V. Serial on National Integration. Presented by Jain Sahib Cultural Organisation, Delhi on September 30, 1990.
- National Award for the year 1989 for contribution to National Integration by Indian Federation of Small and Medium Newspapers at Lucknow. Presented by Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav, the then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
