Conclusions
- India has faced a number of challenges in its 50 years of independent existence. We have faced three wars and a number of secessionist movements. At one stage India was facing the threat of coming under totalitarian regime. However, it is a matter of great satisfaction that we have successfully weathered all the storms and democracy has taken firm roots in India.
- It is the only Country in the Region who has enjoyed uninterrupted Democratic Rule.
- Corruption, in all its forms, is a big challenge and is weakening the infrastructure of governance. Even after 50 years of independence, corruption has not been curtailed. In fact, it is increasing day by day.
- Fundamentalism, Communalism, Casteism and Regionalism is rearing its head and threatening the unity of the Nation.
- We have contained a number of secessionist movements and ensured the geographical oneness of the Country.
- We are all aware of our fundamental rights but pay only lip service to fundamental duties.
- Criminalization of politics has to end if we want to come on top of the future challenges.
- Keep Secularism, Socialism and Solidarity intact. We have to have nationalist fulcrum around which the Indian polity should function.
