Conclusions
- Our nation is passing through a period of tremendous strain .Common man has started doubting the efficacy of the present form of governance particularly when the Prime Minister is at the mercy of small, regional and religious parties whose interests limit their vision and are restricted to a particular state, caste, religion etc.
- Uncertainty and instability threaten to endanger the entire system and the spirit of amity and unity.
- The matter has acquired new urgency in the context of emerging scenario.
- The subject is highly debatable and should not boil down to Parliament form of governance versus presidential form of governance.
- There are alternative ways of providing good governance.
- Changes should be introduced in the present constitution rather than going in for presidential form of governance.
- No matter how good a constitution is, it is the people working on the constitution who make it succeed or fail.
- Patriotic and concerned citizens should put their heads together and work for public opinion on concrete proposals for necessary modifications and reforms.
